Edwards Vacuum Element - Adsorber - A223-04-079 An activated carbon adsorber element replacing Edwards Vacuum part number A223-04-079. The carbon in this cartridge adsorbs oil vapo r and the odor that goes with it, which is why an adsorber is specified where exhaust or discharge air is vented into an occupied space. An adsorber is a finishing element and needs a mechanical stage in front of it, because liquid oil will consume the carbon bed without any vapor ever being adsorbed. Our air filters and coalescing filters and elements pages cover the cartridges that normally do that upstream work. Because a saturated carbon element does not restrict flow, no gauge will tell you it is done. Replace it on a set interval. The A223-04-077, -079 and -081 numbers are close together but are different parts, so read the code on the cartridge you pull before ordering.
