The EMG BTS is EMG's two-band onboard active EQ control module voiced specifically for bass guitar, supplied as the bare circuit board and pot set without the wiring harness around it. It carries bass and treble shelving controls offering up to 15dB of cut or boost on each band, with the corner frequencies shifted down from the BTC's guitar voicing to land where bass players need them: a lower bass shelving frequency that reaches the fundamentals of the lowest strings, and a treble shelf voiced for clarity at the picking and slapping range. The BTS sits as the bass-voiced sister of the BTC two-band guitar EQ. Both give straightforward shelving cut and boost without midrange shaping, but the frequency placement differs enough that mounting a BTC in a bass tends to leave the player wanting more low-end authority below the bass shelf, and a BTS in a guitar tends to feel as though the treble is sitting too low. Players wanting three-band shaping on a bass should look at the BQC-HZ or BQS-HZ System siblings, which add a midrange control suited to bass instrument frequencies. Best suited to active EMG-equipped basses where the player wants direct onboard control over the low and high extremes without a full three-band EQ, common on stage-focused builds where simple, quick adjustments matter more than precise tonal shaping. The Control version drops straight into a bass where the player or luthier already has the wiring harness, jack and battery clip in place. Pots and circuit board only in the box, no jack or wiring.
