The two pickups in the set are matched for neck and bridge positions, so the player gets the recognisable Jazzmaster tonal map across all three switch positions without rewiring or routing changes. What the active circuit brings to the Jazzmaster voice is quiet, even operation. Traditional Jazzmaster single-coils hum at high gain and load unevenly with long cable runs, both of which the active design eliminates. The JMASTER keeps the open, jangly top end and the woody, slightly scooped midrange that defines the platform, but presents that voice with a flat noise floor and a consistent output level regardless of guitar volume position.
