The P6CSX is the X-Series ceramic-steel six-string member of EMG's active Precision Bass platform. It carries the same ceramic-steel magnetic structure as the P6CS (ceramic bar magnets with steel pole pieces, tighter and brighter than standard ceramic), and pairs it with the X-Series preamp stage that removes the input limiter found on the standard active circuit. The result is the brightest, most aggressive and most dynamic member of the six-string Precision range. Tonally the P6CSX combines two characters that pull in the same direction. The ceramic-steel construction gives a faster attack, more focused upper-mid energy and a more cutting top end than ceramic-alone or alnico voicings, so the pickup is naturally suited to busy, loud and densely arranged music; the X-Series preamp then opens the dynamic window, letting the player's pick or finger attack come through with more transient detail than the standard preamp allows. The result is a six-string P with the assertiveness of the P6CS and the headroom and feel of the P6X. Sits at the modern, aggressive end of the range, opposite the standard ceramic P6 at the classic end and the alnico P6X at the open, vintage end. The P6CSX mounts in a standard 6-string P-style split-coil neck route and connects to EMG's solderless quick-connect system, so installation is plug-in into an EMG-loaded instrument or into any 9V-equipped harness fitted with EMG solderless components. Supplied with mounting hardware, wiring, a battery clip and instructions. Distributed in the UK by Selectron.
