Please ensure you select the correct kit (SKU: EW1075) when purchasing for these engines. Additional Considerations When Swapping Reverse Switch Interference with 02J Transmissions If using an 02J transmission with our manual cable conversion, you may experience interference with the reverse switch. Solution: When using the 02J shifter tower or transmission, cut off the mounting flange for the reverse switch to eliminate the interference. Axle Flange Compatibility with Late-Model 02J Transmissions Late-model 02J transmissions (e.g., 1.8T and VR6) feature 108mm axle flanges, which are incompatible with our axles. Solution: Replace the axle flanges using these part numbers: Qty 2: 02A-409-355D Qty 2: 02J-409-359 MK1 Vehicles Older Than 1981 If your MK1 was manufactured before 1981, you may require 2 shims to prevent axle rubbing inside the spindle housing. The shims, included in the kit, should be placed between the outer CV joint and the inner wheel bearing for proper clearance.
