I created Field’s Edge after riding past a patch of blooming goldenrod and wild asters near Ellison Bay. The way the yellow and violet clashed against each other in the sun—vibrant , loud, almost vibrating—it felt like the edge of something. A field meeting a forest. Summer turning to fall. The lines in this piece are sharp, repeating, a little aggressive. I wanted that tension. The way nature sometimes feels chaotic even when it’s patterned. The white backdrop is intentional—like the blank sky you get right before a storm or on a windless afternoon. It’s not a soft piece. It’s about bold contrasts and boundaries.
