Andrea Soos is a Victoria, BC–based abstract painter known for her playful, rhythmically layered compositions. Working intuitively, she builds each canvas through creative mark-making, pattern, and gestural sweeps of colour, often painting to music and letting lyrics and tempo guide her decisions. Soos holds a BFA (Honours) from the University of Victoria and spent several years teaching art and running a community studio before moving into a full-time painting practice. Working from her backyard studio in Victoria, she develops paintings in evolving series rather than fixed plans, allowing each body of work to grow organically over time. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Canada and the United States, and is held in private and corporate collections throughout North America.
