Why This Watch Matters No one makes a stopwatch quite like Heuer. The Full Story Heuer has long been associated with specific-use timing. While wristwatches had more prominent visibility being worn by iconic race car drivers, the timers, namely dashboard timers, have also gained a cult following due to clean and utilitarian designs. Legibility was a paramount factor for these, and one can immediately notice this throughout the design. The practicality of use was an important factor as well; larger size, large pusher, internal rotating bezel, and clean uncluttered dial. In 1959, Heuer's first wrist stopwatches meant to be worn on braces were introduced. Of course, Heuer was the first to market in this niche. Most users were drivers, referees, and coaches – oftentimes the Game Master is referred to as the "coach" watch. While the watch does not indicate the time, these were often worn daily by those with a specific use for them. In 1964, the Game Master was no longer offered in the Heuer catalog, ending a 5 year production run. The example we have here is in excellent and honest condition with the original sticker on the caseback. We paired the watch with our Nato-style strap in black to lean into the utilitarian nature of the stopwatch. The case is overall nice with some scratches. The caseback has retained its original sticker with the reference number filled in. The dial is in excellent condition and very clean with a light patina. The hands have developed some very light patina. The ridged bezel on the case has remained sharp and crisp with some wear on the ridges. The bezel is functional and the crown at three that screws in and locks the bezel is functional as well. The crystal has a few scratches. The pusher is functional. The inside caseback is signed by Heuer and stamped with the case number. The dial, case, and movement are all signed by Heuer. This watch was photographed on a 175mm/6.9inch wrist.
