Buy native Fakahatchee Grass plants for sale at Advanced Nursery Growers in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. This large Florida native ornamental grass produces tall, rich-green foliage that rises from an attractive fountain-shaped clump. Its substantial size and tropical appearance make it an excellent choice for background plantings, privacy screens, rain gardens, large borders, and erosion control. Fakahatchee Grass naturally grows near riverbanks, hammocks, and wetlands, making it especially useful for moist areas. Once established, it can also tolerate occasional drought. Small, unusual flower spikes in shades of cream, yellow, pink, orange, or rust appear above the foliage from late spring through summer. A hard freeze may cause the foliage to turn brown or die back, but established plants normally return from their roots in spring. Planting Tip: Allow plenty of room for this full-size grass to mature. Space plants approximately 4–6 feet apart. The leaves have finely toothed edges that can feel sharp, so avoid placing plants directly beside narrow walkways or areas where people frequently brush against the foliage.
