Isobutyl Quinoline (Pyralone) is the classic leather chemical. Its discovery led the great De Laire company to invent the famed Mousse de Saxe base (our Saxon Moss) as it was consi dered too difficult to use alone. In the early years of the golden age of perfumery, this material was considered mossy, but nowadays it is more often seen as leathery. This illustrates how our perceptions of scent have changed over the decades. Traces to 0.5% were key to many of the great 1970s – 1990s masterpiece gentlemen's perfumes and even today a textured and long lasting dry down is often created with small amounts of this marvelous material. Isobutyl Quinoline is extremely strong and seldom needed above 0.5% in a fragrance. It is also pricey so we offer it at 10% in Dipropylene Glycol. For those who have speciality needs for the material, we also offer it pure. NOTE: This product should not be confused with 2-Isobutyl Quinoline (CAS 93-19-6) which we also sell. That product is much softer and far less common in perfume, though it makes an appearance in Creed's Aventus. Blends well with the more rare Isopropyl Quinoline, Royal Leather, Saxon Moss, Sandexol, Artemal, and Castoreum Hyperessence (Robertet). Show more
