If you have never sewn on a sewing machine, or it's been over a decade since your last Home Ec. class, this is the class you should take. Teaching you to make an envelope pillow, Shirley will cover the basics of using a sewing machine (threading, back stitching, stitch length, tension). You'll also learn how to measure and cut fabric accurately, how to pin, how to create consistent seam allowance and a basic hem. You'll leave with a new throw pillow cover, and a foundation on which to build your sewing skills. Details - The Envelop Pillow Difficulty: Absolute Beginner Pre-Requisites: None! Teacher: Shirley Dawson Supplies Provided: In this workshop we provide the fabric, coordinating thread and instructions. We have 18" square pillow forms to buy if you don't have one of your own. Need to bring: You'll get a detailed email a couple of weeks before the workshop letting you know what to bring but you can anticipate that you will need a basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, marking pencil, etc.). We also encourage you to come to the shop ahead of your class to pick out your fabric and thread so that you're ready to go when the class starts. If we have less than 3participants, we will cancel the class and refund your full purchaseprice. Otherwise, workshops are non-refundable.
