The M2 was designed with the actively gigging musician in mind, and to be a bass that could cover a broad spectrum of voices, from the growly, scooped sound of a jazz bass, to the punch and grind of stringray-type basses, and everything in between. It features a 34" scale, bolt-on carbon fiber neck, an Aguilar active/passive preamp, and our exclusive 16 coil pickup with selectable voicings, that's completely humbucking in all positions. The Klos carbon fiber neck was designed for live gigging. It's exceptionally stable and impervious to changes in temperature and humidity. No matter the conditions where you're playing, hot, cold, humid, dry, your neck is always ready to be played! Plus, since the neck is so stable, the action can be set reliably lower, increasing your speed and playability. The M2 comes standard with an Aguilar obp-3 preamp, which has a stacked bass/treble control, push/pull mid control, and a blend knob to further tailor your tone. Battery dies in the middle of a show? No problem! Just pull up the volume knob and switch over to passive. Voicings in the pickup are determined by selecting different combinations of coils simply by rotating the voicing knob. Position 1 gives you a smooth, mid-scooped, jazz-bass type sound. Rotate the knob to position 2 and you now have a punchy, stingray-type tone. Position 3 use all 4 coils, and using the blend knob, you can dial in a mid-heavy, warwick-type sound, to a thick, double humbucker tone.
