When the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor, U.S. Navy Lieutenant Richard Houston, a fugitive deserter, penniless and adrift, decides to take a chance and re-enlist. To avoid being ident ified and prosecuted, Houston gives the recruiter an alias - Jim Smith.
