How It's Unique The Riptide Maxxum line is a step-up from the Riptide Edge trolling motor. Featuring a more powerful motor (up to 80 lbs) and an optional BowGuard mount (Riptide Maxxum 80 only) with a beefy spring-protected shaft, the Riptide Maxxum is built to stand the test of time. The motor is also available with a latch & door mount for easy motor removal. The Minn Kota Riptide Fortrex is a step-up from the Riptide Maxxum as it features a super heavy-duty aluminum mono arm along with a stainless steel, nitrogen charged gas spring that makes stowing and deploying the motor similar to opening up the tailgate on an SUV. Consider the Riptide Fortrex if you want the most heavy-duty trolling motor made. Split Mounting Details: This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling into the boat for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware.
