This is the fifth release from Oriental Elixir — a collaboration between The Spiffy Dapper and Tanglin Gin Distillery. This gin was created by resting the Tanglin Orchid Gin in freshly toasted Sampaguita. Packed with Sampaguita notes and hints of citrus, this gin is bound to tickle your palate. Like any gin, it can be an acquired taste but the brand has created a full-bodied drink that's subtle on the nose that you'll want to keep on drinking. What is Sampaguita? The jasminum sambac, which is also known as the Arabian jasmine, grand duke of Tuscany, P 'Uchen, is a small shrub native to South Asia. It's a variety of jasmine that produces flowers at night. The white petals are used to make head garlands for parties and traditional ceremonies. Its name is originated from the Filipino word "sumpa kita" which means "I promise you", and symbolizes purity, goodness and innocence. A flower is neither bought nor sold. It blooms, and in its fullness it gives itself freely to the world. It’s an inspiring model for how we should live, truly giving of ourselves – unselfishly, unconditionally and without expectation. We found this inspiration in a small white flower with a gorgeous aroma called sampaguita (sam-pa-gee-too-ah). This gin with real sampaguita flowers and distilled botanicals to create a spirit that’s as delicious as it is inspiring. How to drink the Sampaguita Gin? This gin works well in cocktails and in G&Ts. We recommend a ratio of 1 part Sampaguita Gin to 2 parts Tonic Water. Use a pandan leaf or slice or orange as your garnish for your gin and tonic. We absolutely love the Sampaguita Gin in a dry martini. 45ml Sampaguita Gin, 15ml Dry Vermouth and a touch of Orange Bitters. Optional Cocktail Kit + Masterclass You also have the option to add on a cocktail kit with a masterclass. This kit includes ingredients for up to 10 cocktails. The ingredients will stay true to Oriental Elixir — weird but some kind of wonderful. You will get the ingredients along with the tools in a kit. Then you can get a Zoom call with the bartenders to learn about the ingredients and how to use them.
