Pendolino Rosso is an ancient Italian fig variety. It is said to come from a “famed garden,” likely the conservatory Pomona in Cisternino, Italy. The conservatory is dedicated to preserving such old world varieties according to organic gardening practices and low-impact tourism. You can identify Pendolino Rosso by its multicolored red, green, and yellow skin. It has a round shape, and the ostiole may appear on the side rather than the bottom of the fig. Its skin is hardy and resistant to splitting. Inside Pendolino Rosso, you will find red pulp with a mild flavor. Tasters have found this variety to have brown sugar and floral notes. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
