Mount them where your floor wants them for a down fire install, or leave them off and run the cabinet front firing or up firing. The orientation is yours to choose. This page is a Performance Optimized enclosure. The airspace, the cutout and the cabinet height all come from the Arc Audio SW10's own published numbers. A Performance box fits your subwoofer. A Performance Optimized box was built for it. Built Around the Arc Audio SW10 Nothing about this cabinet is generic. The baffle is bored to the SW10's 9.1 inch cutout, with a 10.3 inch outer diameter to clear, and the internal height is set by its 2.4 inch mounting depth, or 2.25 inches front loaded. That is the shallowest driver in the Proline X Down Fire program, and the finished cabinet stands just 5.0625 inches tall on a 30 by 15 inch footprint. The SW10 is a dual voice coil driver offered in dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm, rated 350 watts RMS and 700 watts peak. Cone area is 338.16 cm² and the force factor is 16.365 Tm wired in series. Arc publishes full Thiele-Small data for this driver in both series and parallel wiring, which most manufacturers do not bother with, and the two land within a hair of each other: Fs 39.3 against 39.0 Hz, Qts 0.624 against 0.634, Vas 12.96 against 13.33 liters. One enclosure therefore serves both wiring choices properly, which is not always true of dual voice coil drivers. Wire for whatever load your amplifier is stable and efficient into. Net Volume, Not Gross We build this cabinet at 0.604 cubic feet gross, against Arc Audio's published optimum sealed recommendation of 0.6 gross. Net internal airspace after panel thickness, bracing and the driver's own displacement is approximately 0.55 cubic feet. Arc publishes their sealed recommendations as gross rather than net, which is unusual, so both figures are listed in the specifications. True net, not marketing net. Internal volume is calculated from the machined cavity dimensions and the driver's published displacement, not estimated from external dimensions minus wall thickness. That volume produces Qtc 0.843 with Fc at 53.1 Hz and a predicted F3 of 45.9 Hz. A Qts of 0.624 is a healthy, moderate figure, so unlike a lot of shallow drivers this one reaches a properly controlled alignment rather than sitting underdamped regardless of box size. Arc's published range runs 0.4 gross minimum to 0.9 gross maximum; the optimum is what we build. The tradeoff on this driver is worth stating plainly. A 39.3 Hz free air resonance and a 12.96 liter Vas are both the price of a 2.4 inch motor, and they put F3 in the mid 40s rather than the 30s. What you get in exchange is a cabinet just over five inches tall. Arc's own documentation notes that cabin gain adds roughly 12 dB per octave below 50 Hz in most vehicles, and firing down into the floor this driver is built to lean on that. If clearance is your binding constraint, this is the driver that fits. Down Fire Construction Cut with V-groove and dado joinery on our ShopSabre routers from Langboard Elite 3/4 inch MDF, a dense 48.5 lb/ft³ board with a 200 psi internal bond and 410,000 psi MOE. Every panel joint is a machined interlocking groove that mechanically locks before adhesive is applied, which keeps the cabinet airtight under sustained pressure cycling. Corners are square on Down Fire cabinets. On a cabinet this short the baffle carries a large share of the structural load, because there is minimal room for bracing geometry. Perimeter cross-bracing and pre-installed polyfill complete the build. Finished dimensions are 30 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 5.0625 inches tall, measured in the down fire position. Double Baffle, Flush Recess The front baffle is 1.5 inches, two bonded 3/4 inch sheets, with the outer layer machined as a flush recess so the driver bolts to the inner layer. That recovers 3/4 inch of internal clearance. Side-Mounted Terminal Cup Proline X ABS and carbon fiber composite cup with stainless hardware and copper ring terminals, pre-wired in 12 gauge OFC. Side mounted so it stays accessible with the baffle facing the floor. Structure In A 5 Inch Cabinet Perimeter cross-bracing works with the doubled baffle to hold a 30 inch span rigid in a cabinet just over five inches tall. The driver lands on 8/32 threaded inserts with stainless machine screws included. Power and Warranty Arc rates the SW10 at 350 watts RMS with 700 watts peak. It is dual voice coil in 2 ohm or 4 ohm, and final impedance is set at the driver. Since the series and parallel Thiele-Small figures are effectively identical, the enclosure alignment holds either way. The enclosure carries a 1 year limited warranty. Bring your own Arc Audio SW10; the driver is purchased separately. Cut for the Driver, Not the Catalog One driver, one cutout, one volume target. Every Performance Optimized cabinet is machined to a single driver's published numbers and built one at a time in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
