“Sharing our beaches with sea turtles is both a privilege and responsibility. On this morning, I missed this loggerhead turtle’s nesting activity by likely only a few hours. However, I was entranced by the tracks that she had left. “There was—and remains—something so special about the power and symbolism of these tracks in the sand; especially the absolute subtlety of the entire exercise. Once the wind and tide rinse away this record of her effort, no one will ever know what transpired here, or what miracles are readying themselves for entering the world just steps away. “I was captivated by the presence of layered cumulonimbus clouds on the horizon. As one cloud towers in the distance, miles above the Gulf, it is fading and being replaced by a new, growing cloud. This symbolism, in perfect alignment with the tracks of the nesting loggerhead, completed a moment and experience for me that I’ll never forget.”
