Deep purple-red Proustite with a fine resinous to sub-metallic lustre forms an aggregate (1.2 x 1.1 x 1.0 cm) of crystals with lovely stepped growth lines on their crystal faces. T he largest crystal extends to 1 cm in length, but most are much smaller. There is a little damage to parts of this aggregate but for a matrix-hosted specimen this is a quite large display of Proustite crystals from the famous historic Freiberg silver-mining district and presents well on its banded crystalline white Calcite. Beneath the Calcite lies rich Galena, Sphalerite and Pyrite, and there are a few smaller patches of Proustite sat on and within the Calcite too. Ex Horst Wolle Collection. Show more
