Hiroshi Hirono Echizen lacquerware with a "fire pattern" in the style of the Ainu people! This product is a collaboration between WATANABE Sumio, an artist from Akanko Ainu Kotan, and Rokurosha, an Echizen lacquerware manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture. The lacquerware is shaped like a high pedestal, inspired by "tuki", a ritual tool of the Ainu tribe, and decorated with an Ainu design representing ape (=fire in Ainu language) in maki-e lacquer. It is recommended as a souvenir for foreigners or as a gift for those who love Japanese history and traditional crafts. We now offer two types of bowls and cups. The bowls can be used as a vessel for various soup dishes, including ohaw, the traditional Ainu soup. Please feel free to use them together with the cups at your daily dining table.
