This dry, juicy and refreshing Barbera was produced from vines ranging from 30 to 50 years of age, was fermented in concrete before being stabilized in stainless steel. Sometimes you just want something simple and easy, in Europe, restaurants and cafes might call it table wine. In America, we call it house wine, but unlike the house wines of America, the table wines of Europe generally retain character and are actually a pleasure to drink. Well, the Northern Italian wine importer The Piedmont Guy, crafted their own everyday wine lineup which is much more akin to Euro tables wines than their American counterparts, calling the line Ercole, or "Hercules," they work with generations-old cooperatives in the Monferrato area of Piedmont. Thousands of small growers across Italy utilize cooperatives to bring their produce (in this case grapes) to market, and the cooperatives have become hubs for retaining and promoting traditional practices and varieties across the country. Sustainably farmed, and for the most part organic, Ercole is a great label at a fantastic price point, and is ready to be enjoyed with pizza, by the pool, or just hanging out in the backyard, 12.5% ABV
