Description The Grove Thermal Imaging Camera MLX90621 BAB is a compact infrared thermal imaging module built around a 16 x 4 pixel MLX90621 IR array. It detects object surface temperature without contact and communicates through the Grove I2C interface, making it suitable for embedded thermal sensing, IoT monitoring, and smart control projects. The module supports a 60° x 16° field of view, a -40°C to 300°C measuring range, and an accuracy of ±1°C ±3% x |To-Ta|, where To is the measured object surface temperature and Ta is the sensor temperature. Thermal Imaging Principle Objects emit infrared radiation according to their temperature. The MLX90621 array senses small temperature differences and converts them into low-resolution thermal data that an MCU can process into a heat map. Usage Requirements The camera requires an MCU with more than 20,000 bytes of RAM to process the thermal imaging data. Basic boards such as Arduino UNO are not recommended because of limited memory and processing capability.
