This painting is part of a series of 12 works, each dedicated to a specific month of the year, using subjects and colours associated with each time of year. The 9th piece in the series represents September. This painting holds personal significance, as it re-creates an image that has been on the wall of my parents' kitchen since before I was born. Growing up, I saw this picture every day, and despite the many changes in my life, its enduring presence has fostered a deep connection between me and the home where I was raised. September is a time traditionally linked to harvest, and the subject of this painting aligns with this theme. I was drawn to the idea of abundance, pushing its capacity to convey prosperity. To capture this sense, I used rich and vibrant colours that evoke a feeling of abundance and plenty. The green tones at the bottom and the delicate white embroidery represent peace and beauty, qualities I associate with a nurturing and welcoming home.
