Welcome to the Fall/Winter 2018 issue of Sixtysix magazine. Our inaugural issue begins with a captivating photo illustration from 3D artist Chris Labrooy. The clever creator seems to often split his time between California and Scotland, and it works, as he finds inspiration on both the sunny West Coast and in quiet moments in the UK. Our Editor-in-Chief Chris Howe sat down with him to find out what works, how he got to where he is today as an artist, and just how his love of cars fits into his client work. In this issue our writer Jane Gayduk was also invited into the home of the esteemed Carl Gustav Magnusson on the Lower East Side of NYC. The famous designer shared with us everything from his wisdom from many years of working with the likes of Frank Gehry and Maya Lin to what it means to make his own legacy at Knoll and what the future holds. We also dug deep to go behind the scenes in places like Bolivia, Bogotá, and beyond to immerse ourselves with some of today’s most inspiring working artists. We were fortunate enough to spend time with architect Freddy Mamani, who shared with us his plan for “painting the whole city.” Stories like his, and how he has transformed the urban aesthetic of a city that was once Bolivia’s poorest, are a huge part of why we do what we do. This issue also takes us inside the creative minds of Danish designer Cecilie Manz and her work with Muuto, Bang & Olufsen, and others; MacArthur genius and Man Booker Prize winner George Saunders; custom motorcycle design god Moto Mucci; and so many more.
