Welcome to the Spring/Summer 2019 issue of Sixtysix magazine. Opening this issue is the amazing photograph, The Space Project, by Vincent Fournier. The gloves were custom-made for astronauts on the International Space Station. You can see Vincent’s work everywhere from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to the Centre Pompidou in Paris to Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. Our writer Haydee Touitou spoke with him about his love of film, photography, and the future, and photographer Elodie Daguin visited his Paris apartment to capture his home studio. The issue then jumps to New York, where we also visit with designer Sagi Haviv, who shares what he learned redesigning the visual identity for Animal Planet. From there we venture behind the curtain with design icons like the great Philippe Starck in Paris, who shares his “out there” thoughts on the future of design and humanity. We were also delighted to talk stunts and work-life balance with contemporary design legend Stefan Sagmeister in New York, as he invited writer Jane Gayduk into his work space for a glimpse of just how the award-winning work—everything from conceptual performances to massive rebranding—gets done. We also caught up with Patricia Urquiola in this issue to explore her unique collaboration with Laufen and visited Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam. We also speak with typographer Tobias Frere-Jones, illustrator Claudia Chanhoi, musicians Wild Belle, architects Luo Yujie (Beijing), Marc Fornes (NYC) Moon Hoon (Seoul), and Tatiana Bilbao (Mexico City), and tour RUX Studios the creators of Stickbulb.
