Rustic grade keeps the knots, shakes and natural colour movement that give the door its character, and nail holes are visible in the face, which you can fill if you prefer. Because every board is different, the number and width of the boards may vary a little from door to door, so no two doors are exactly alike.The boards are finished with a V-groove profile, where a sharp V is cut into each joint for a crisp, defined line across the face. It is worked into the same solid oak boards, so it adds depth to the look without changing how the door is built.Being solid oak all the way through, rather than an oak face over a manufactured core, the door can be sanded back and re-treated over its life, and trimmed a little to fit an opening. Oak moves slightly with the seasons, so leave a small gap for expansion when fitting.A barn door like this suits traditional T-hinges, the long strap hinge that runs across the ledges and matches the plain board face.
