Shanxi, circa 1880 This understated table, originally designed as a writing desk in Shanxi province, is perfect for a modern home office with limited space or could be used as a dr essing table or console. Crafted from elm wood with its original dark finish, the top surface has developed a rich patina over decades of use, revealing the beautiful natural colour of the wood. Its simple 'zhuo' style, commonly found throughout China, features flush legs and a frame and panel construction. The elegant legs slightly taper down, ending in the classic Chinese horse hoof feet.
