The Noctis Skipper Table Lamp sits in Tom Raffield’s Skipper range, which is all about curved timber forms that feel open and a bit sculptural without being heavy in a room. This version brings a darker, ebonised finish, but the shape itself stays light and flowing. It’s made from ebonised poplar, bent and layered into looping forms around a central light source. When it’s switched on, the light filters through the gaps in the wood and spills out in different directions, giving a mix of soft glow and shadow. It doesn’t feel closed in, even with the darker tone, because so much of it is open structure rather than solid material. In a space, it tends to sit quite comfortably on a console, desk or side table where you want something with a bit of presence. It’s not loud, but it’s not background either.
