I bought this engine from the builder back in 2003, a gentleman in his 80s who had flown Spitfires in the war - a prolific modeller, since then I have had several other of his engines. It's spent the last six years sitting in a gentleman's study near Inverness - the pictures below were taken this week, however rather than rehash the description, I've lifted it from the archive from when it sold last time. Well made triple expansion marine engine, typical of nineteenth century practice with condensor and air pump, slide valves with Stephenson's reversing gear. Drain cocks to all cylinders, wheel regulator valve, all pipe fittings flanged and bolted. Built to the O.B.Bolton design, revised and described in "Model Engineer" by John Bertinat. The same builder was responsible for an excellent Allchin and the Liverpool and Manchester "Lion" we have in stock and a rather nice Bentley rotary aero engine in 1/6th scale. The engine is around 25 years old, and won his local Model Engineering Society's "Best in Show" award on completion. Complete with a set of drawings.
