t the curb. In this photograph, William Eggleston transforms an ordinary street corner into a study of color, geometry, and atmosphere. This image belongs to The Outlands, part of the broader photographic project from which Eggleston and John Szarkowski selected works for the artist’s landmark 1976 exhibition at Museum of Modern Art, New York. Revisited decades later for a three-volume monograph that was published by Steidl in 2021, these images reveal a deeper portrait of the American landscape shaped by time, climate, and human presence. The series is also the subject of the 2022 David Zwirner Books publication, The Outlands, edited by the artist’s son, Winston.
