Victorian Circa second half 19th century | England An antique nineteenth century pair of cast brass candlesticks (see The Gen) with vase knopped stems on a ring decorated circular foot. Inside the foot of each a raiser rod can be found. DIMENSIONS: 19.5 cm. CONDITION: In very good condition, wear consistent with an antique age and use. The brass has a lovely warm patina created by many years of handling and looks wonderful when a candle is lit. No evident restoration. The candle and the simple oil lamp were the only available artificial illuminants, and in countries where the average temperature did not cause it to melt or droop, the candle was preferred.
