Vestibular and proprioceptive processing shape far more of daily function than most clinicians initially realize, and this TalkTools self study course, presented by Loren Snow, examines how differences in these two sensory systems affect movement, safety, and regulation. The course looks closely at balance, body awareness, and coordination, along with the impact that unmet body sense needs can have on learning, behavior, and overall wellbeing. Participants will learn to define the vestibular and proprioceptive senses and explain their roles in balance, movement, posture, and body awareness, giving clinicians a shared vocabulary for discussing these systems with families and colleagues. The course also covers how to identify signs of over sensitivity and under sensitivity in vestibular and proprioceptive processing, including how these differences may present as physical behaviors that are sometimes misread as simple restlessness or clumsiness. From there, participants will explore practical, sensory informed strategies and environmental changes that support regulation, movement, and safety while reducing behaviors that put a child or others at risk. By the end of the course, clinicians will be equipped to apply strength based approaches and proactive sensory diets that support vestibular and proprioceptive processing across home, school, and clinical settings, every single day of the week.
