Victorian 4 Panel Solid Oak DoorOur Victorian 4 Panel Solid Oak Door carries all the features associated with Victorian doors. The four-panel layout, two panels above and two below a central rail, is the classic Victorian proportion, and it is crafted from solid oak using traditional joinery so it stands the test of time. It suits many styles of home, from period properties and barn conversions to modern houses and cottages. It is built from prime Grade A solid oak with a mortice and tenon frame, the strongest traditional joint, so the door feels solid and hangs true. Only the finest oak is selected, and the grain unfolds across the face, interrupted only by the raised panels and the prominent knots found naturally in the wood, so you notice something different about it each time you look.Being solid oak all the way through, rather than an oak face over a manufactured core, the door can be sanded back and re-treated over its life, and trimmed a little to fit an opening. Oak moves slightly with the seasons, so leave a small gap for expansion when fitting. The panelled face suits traditional ironmongery, whether a brass or black lever on a period scheme; you can match the handles, hinges and latches on our door hardware pages, and combine the door with character oak flooring and matching linings and architrave to pull a room together. This door is supplied sanded but unfinished, so you can choose a finish to suit your furnishings and flooring, or add our in-house oiling service to have it treated before delivery. Use a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex, sealing every face including the top and bottom edges, and re-treat periodically to keep it protected. It is also available in made-to-measure sizes for a non-standard opening.Key Product Information Classic Victorian four-panel design: two-over-two raised panels 100% prime Grade A solid oak with a mortice and tenon frame Solid oak throughout: can be sanded back, re-treated and trimmed to fit over its life Supplied unfinished and sanded, or prefinished with a hardwax oil Made to measure available: bespoke sizing to suit your opening
