Four target modes (normal, first, last, and ELR) and two ranging modes (horizontal component distance and line of sight) mean you get the flexibility to range any shot on any hunt, making the Viper HD 3000 perfect for the tree stand and the mountains. Normal mode is the standard mode providing the target's range with the strongest range result which is recommended for most situations. The last mode displays the farthest distance when ranging a specific target behind a group of objects like brush and trees, or rocks. The ELR mode is ideal for ranging targets at extreme distance, the slightly longer response time allows for great extended distance ranges, best used on a tripod. Line of sight mode displays the actual line of sight range where the horizontal component distance displays the slope angle compensated for the target distance.
