The Kurume Kasuri textile mill was established in 1948 and is renowned as a representative of Japan's traditional pre-dyed textiles. The fabric is characterized by its soft and handwoven-like texture, which is reminiscent of handwoven textiles.[Weaving Characteristics]The term "stripe" ("shima" in Japanese) originally referred to cotton fabric with vertical stripes imported from foreign countries through Nanban trade.
