Founded in 1948, the Kurume Kasuri textile mill represents the spirit of Japan and is known for its soft and handwoven-like texture.The weaving technique features a striped pattern known as "Shima" in Japanese. The term "stripe" ("shima" in Japanese) originally referred to cotton fabric with vertical stripes imported from foreign countries through Nanban trade.
