DESCRIPTION This belted jacket falls somewhere between a coat and a jacket in terms of length. When sold new, it was marketed as a “sports jacket” – a garment suitable for activities such as hiking or countryside walks. While it bears no label, we can say with confidence that it is of Swedish origin, most likely tailored sometime during the 1940s. It is made from a brown herringbone tweed with subtle green undertones visible upon close inspection, though the overall appearance remains brown. The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with five front buttons, plus an additional button at the neck for full closure. It has slanted front pockets and, in addition, practical vertical chest pockets. The waist is belted, and the back features a single vent. Inside, the jacket is fully lined with checked wool fabric. Interior buttons suggest that it originally came with a removable lining, although this is no longer present. The condition is excellent, with very little to remark upon. The topmost button is slightly different in tone from the others, as it sits under the lapel and has been shielded from sunlight – but this has no impact on the overall impression. Please study the photos carefully and form your own opinion regarding the condition.
