Online you can choose the background style, but the color of the daisy is random. Created in celebration of my 45th birthday in May 2025, this installation features 45 forward facing cards and 45 cards facing the back—each adorned with a daisy. 45 pieces to mark 45 years of life. Each card reflects the range of color, emotion, and experience collected over time. The back cards are meant to represent the sketch or ideas behind the work. Drawing on my background as a scenic artist for the theatre, the piece is mounted on theatrical netting, suspended like a stage backdrop. This netting offers a symbolic peek behind the curtain—into the space where creativity is born, where the unseen work takes place. It’s a tribute to process: the long hours, quiet discipline, and emotional investment that go into any artistic creation. Most viewers only witness the final product, rarely the effort and intention behind it. With “45,” I invite the audience to honor not just this piece, but the labor and love that fuels all art. I’m deeply grateful to have spent over 20 years making a life through art.
