The RIBA’s annual conference for practitioners working across practice sizes and sectors, the Smart Practice Conference aims to inspire and help members improve at the project and practice level. The 2020 iteration set out to help architects step up to the urgent issue of the climate emergency. Speakers introduced the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge; shared tools for assessing the impact of design and material choices; showcased best practice and pioneering approaches in energy efficient and low carbon design; offered perspectives on holistic retrofit, circular economy thinking, and strategies for transformation at the practice level.
