Our subtle cream lacquer blanket trunk has a fresh modern look, with aspects of the classical Chinese style in the form of the circular brass locking plate and clasp. Brass carrying handles make our trunks easier to move and all our trunks are supplied with the pin and red silk tassel. Our wooden blanket trunks can be used to store many things, use as an everyday bedding or clothes trunk or perhaps store away all the kids games and toys. Typically stacked in twos or threes in bedrooms or placed on top of cabinets to store winter clothes or bedding, trunks like these were extremely popular in Chinese homes. They were often made from camphor wood as the smell acts as a natural insect repellent but elm was also favoured. Our version is made from solid reclaimed elm wood, produced using proper dovetail joints and with a metal stay to prevent the lid from falling shut. The inside is finished in a dark wood stain.
