The P6 is the six-string member of EMG's active Precision Bass platform. Wound with ceramic magnets and a low-impedance active coil driving the standard EMG onboard preamp, it carries the same focused, fundamental-heavy P voice the four- and five-string variants deliver, scaled across the full six-string width so that the low B and high C sit consistently against the four core strings rather than dropping in level or thinning out at the edges. Voice-wise this is the classic Precision character: a strong fundamental, a tight low end, a present mid-range push and a controlled top that settles into a dense arrangement without competing with the kick drum or fighting the guitar. On a six-string instrument the active circuit earns its keep at the extremes, holding output level on the low B (where a passive split-coil often loses focus) and keeping the high C clear and articulate (where the same passive split-coil can sound brittle or quiet). Sits below the brighter, more cutting P6CS and the more open X-Series P6X and P6CSX in the six-string family. The P6 mounts in a standard 6-string P-style split-coil neck route and connects to EMG's solderless quick-connect system, so installation is a plug-in job into an EMG-loaded instrument or any 9V-equipped harness fitted with EMG solderless components. Supplied with mounting hardware, wiring, a battery clip and instructions. Distributed in the UK by Selectron.
