Jordan 196 (1996): The Measured Season The Jordan 196 continued the relationship with Peugeot power, driven by Rubens Barrichello in his fourth and final season with the team and by veteran Briton Martin Brundle in what would prove his last year in Formula One. The car consolidated the technical lessons of the 195 with a refined aerodynamic package and improved mechanical balance. It was a year of steady accumulation rather than headline moments, Jordan finishing fifth in the Constructors' Championship and laying the groundwork for a driver restructure that would transform the team's fortunes. Not every movement in watchmaking delivers a revelation. Some seasons are about calibration, and the 196 was Jordan's calibration year: precise, considered and necessary. This watch honours the work done away from the spotlight, the patient turning of gears that makes the eventual strike of the hour possible. The Watch The watch itself is the Hunter evolved. At its heart beats the CIGA Design in-house CD-011 manual tourbillon, its skeletonised bridge and base plate expanding the visible mechanism by 200 per cent. Green-tipped luminous hands honour Eddie's Irish roots, blue screws and ruby jewels echo his ardour and reason, and the yellow strap carries the colours of Jordan Grand Prix. Eddie's signature is engraved on the three-layered octagonal case, forged from DLC-coated Grade 5 titanium, and his FTB wrist tattoo is embossed on the strap loop. The Signed Print This piece is paired with a print of the Jordan 196, personally signed by Andy Stevenson. Andy joined Eddie's team in 1988, before Jordan ever reached Formula One, and worked on every car the team built, from the 191 to the EJ15. He went on to become one of the most respected figures in the paddock and has never missed a race since. His signature connects this watch directly to the hands that built the car it honours.
