“Local Tectonic Snippet #102” A painting that evokes the outback fringe, the arid zone I have experienced in the area north-west of Broken Hill, where red earth starts to edge against the yellow sand and scrubland. With nicely flat block colours, I feel this has a real sense of movement and an off-kilter sensibility that shift and shakes, with a thick textural nature that brings a nice sense of substance and soul. * A note on my "Local Tectonic Series"; this is a style of painting that has pre-occupied me most of the past year or so. These paintings seek to give an impression of the Australian landscape, but do so by not being "descriptive" or figurative. I want these to be works where people can look and find their own meanings within, shifting perhaps each day, evoking a sense of something they may not be able to necessarily put their finger on.
