NM-23B – Norman Spearman For much of the Battle of Hastings, King Harold’s Anglo-Saxon army occupied a strong defensive position along the ridge, forcing William’s Norman forces to attack uphill against a tightly packed shield wall. NM-23B – Norman Spearman represents one of the foot soldiers involved in this difficult assault. Armed with spear and shield, he would have fought among the infantry formations supporting William’s archers and mounted warriors as the Normans repeatedly attempted to break the Saxon line. John Jenkins’ variety of poses and shield patterns makes these individual warriors particularly effective when grouped together, creating the appearance of a much larger and less uniform medieval army. Available from The Military Workshop – an excellent figure for adding depth and action to a Battle of Hastings or Norman army display.
