About the 3DO REAL FZ-1The Panasonic 3DO REAL FZ-1, released in 1993, was one of the world’s first 32-bit CD-based home consoles. Known for its innovative design and multimedia capabilities, the FZ-1 offered high-quality audio and full-motion video gameplay. It became a unique collector’s item, remembered for its pioneering role in the history of gaming. What We Did Before This Ships Every console we sell is opened up and serviced by hand. We don't just confirm it powers on — we look inside. This unit was fully disassembled and cleaned internally; dust was removed from all components. All boards and electrical contacts were cleaned with ethanol and a fast-drying, residue-free electronics cleaner to remove oxidation and residue. Moving mechanical parts were lubricated with a light application of silicone grease for smooth, quiet operation. (We do not apply grease to electrical contacts — they are cleaned only.) Electrolytic capacitors are replaced only when there is visible corrosion or leakage — nothing more, nothing less. For console families known for capacitor failure, a full recap is performed as standard. If a console cannot be properly restored, we do not sell it. After reassembly, the unit is tested with an actual game: video, sound, and controller input are all confirmed. Before we seal the box, we power the console on one more time and confirm it is still working. Every console includes 30 days of support after it reaches you. A note on power: this console uses Japan's 100V standard. Buyers in North America (120V) are advised to use a step-down transformer or a multi-voltage power supply; buyers in Europe (230V) will require a step-down transformer to use an original 100V adapter safely. A note on region: This is a Japanese Panasonic 3DO (FZ-1 or FZ-10). There is no hardware region lock — discs from North America will physically boot on this unit. However, a small number of Japanese titles include kanji font data not present in the English-language BIOS, which may cause display issues on non-Japanese units; conversely, Japanese units can run all North American 3DO software. Some software was coded to detect the video standard and may misbehave on mismatched hardware, though this unit is NTSC and is compatible with North American NTSC discs.
