In 1985, Ala in Graillot was living in Paris and pursuing a careerin agricultural chemicals, when he completely upended his life, moved to the Rhône Valley and began farming grapes, forsaking the chemicals he had once sold and pioneering biodynamics in the Rhône subregion of Crozes-Hermitage.
