This Iai practice sword is manufactured in Gifu Prefecture which has historically been known as the workplace of the Japanese swords. The blade is handmade with the traditional technique of sand casting. This is a replica sword. It is not real and cannot cut. Also, as it is made of alloy, it cannot be sharpened by yourself. Regarding Sozame Koshirae by Izuminokami KanesadaThis sword was crafted by Izuminokami Kanesada, a renowned swordsmith from Gifu Prefecture. Known for their exceptional balance, his blades were highly favored by many samurai. Kanesada created a wide variety of swords with different hamon patterns. The hamon on this blade is called Midareba, a bold, wave-like pattern. The sheath is made using a special technique called Samegawa-Togidashi. In this method, ray skin (often referred to as shark skin) is applied to the sheath and polished until the surface becomes smooth. Afterward, it is carefully coated with cashew lacquer or urethane and polished again—a process that requires both time and patience to complete.
