About Kato Kiyomasa by Dodanuki Masakuni This sword was crafted by Dodanuki Masakuni, a renowned swordsmith known for making blades for Katō Kiyomasa, a famous samurai from Kumamoto (Kyushu) celebrated for his strength and tactical skill. This piece is modeled after the sword of Katō Kiyomasa. Because Kiyomasa valued practical designs, Dodanuki Masakuni’s style is very simple. The blade is forged strong enough for battle, and its hamon pattern is straight and understated—a reflection of the samurai’s strength.
