Neurturin is a cytokine with a molecular weight of 22 kDa, consisting of 195 amino acid residues. Along with GDNF, it belongs to the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GD NF) family. Neurturin binds to GFRα-2 (a GPI-anchored receptor known as GDNF family receptor alpha-2), thereby activating the Ret receptor tyrosine kinase and the MAPK signaling pathway.
