The EMG Conversion Kit (1 or 2 PU) is the standard-shaft, standard-pot wiring harness for installing one or two EMG active pickups without soldering. The kit ships with the 25K low-impedance pots that EMG's active circuit needs to see (a standard 250K or 500K passive pot value will not load the active preamp correctly), a pre-terminated output jack, a battery clip and the solderless quick-connect cables that plug the pickups into the harness. Everything the average one or two humbucker guitar needs to move from passive to EMG active in an afternoon, no soldering iron on the bench. Within the wider EMG Conversion Kit family it sits at the top of the standard-shaft active shelf, alongside the HZ passive sister for 250K pots, the push-pull pot version for TW-series coil-split or SPC and EXG boost activation, the long-shaft version for thick-bodied guitars where standard pots run out of thread, and the 3 PU Stratocaster variants for three-pickup layouts. The choice between the 1/2 PU standard kit and its long-shaft sibling comes down to body thickness: standard shaft suits slab-bodied Strats, Teles, Superstrats and most bolt-on builds, while long shaft is the right choice for Les Pauls, PRS carved tops, ES-335 semi-hollows and any guitar where the control cavity sits deeper than a standard-thickness slab. Fits any guitar routed for one or two humbucker or single-coil pickups, running one or two volumes and one tone as standard. Runs on a single 9V battery shared between all EMG actives on the harness.
